Overview
The Score family runs Score to Double Score to Triple Score, growing in capability as you climb. The Double Score sits in the middle: it keeps the easy, lightweight character of the entry Score but hands you more control. It uses Nokta's simultaneous multi-frequency technology, is fully waterproof to IP68 (submersible to 16 ft / 5 m), and weighs about 2.7 lbs - comfortable for long hunts. Firmware updates over USB keep it current, a Nokta trademark across the range.
Key features
- Simultaneous multi-frequency (SMF) - better all-round performance than a single-frequency budget detector.
- Manual ground balance - automatic, manual and tracking options, which the base Score lacks and which help in mineralized soil.
- Extra sensitivity levels - owners note the Double adds several levels over the base Score for finer tuning.
- Fully waterproof IP68 - submersible to 16 ft / 5 m, so beach and shallow-water hunting are fair game.
- Three search modes and a rechargeable 3250 mAh battery good for up to 12 hours.
- Free firmware updates over USB and Bluetooth wireless audio.
Who it is for
The Double Score is a natural fit for a beginner who wants a little more than the entry model, or an intermediate hunter who wants a light, waterproof second machine. The metal-detecting community recommends the Score series heavily for newcomers, with the Double Score repeatedly called out as very beginner-friendly - one owner described finally finding the right machine in it, while others flag it as the sweet spot in the $300-400 range when it is on sale.
How it compares and related models
Against the base Nokta Score, the Double adds manual ground balance and more sensitivity steps. Above it, the Triple Score adds further modes and a larger coil option for the hunter who wants the most from the family. All three keep the same lightweight, waterproof, SMF foundation, so the choice comes down to how much adjustability you want.
Buying note
