Nokta Score Metal Detector
The Nokta Score is the entry point of Nokta's budget Score family: a lightweight (about 2.7 lbs), fully waterproof simultaneous multi-frequency detector designed to be simple and affordable. With three search modes and free firmware updates, it is one of the most recommended first detectors from a major brand.
Pros
- Simultaneous multi-frequency at an entry price
- Very light at around 2.7 lbs
- Fully waterproof to 16 ft (IP68)
- Simple to learn - great first detector
- Free USB firmware updates
Cons
- No manual ground balance (step up for that)
- Fewer adjustments than Double/Triple Score
- Not aimed at serious mineralized-ground hunting
Overview
The Score launches Nokta's simpler tier, below the Simplex and Legend lines. It brings the brand's simultaneous multi-frequency (SMF) technology to an affordable, fuss-free package: a sleek, ergonomic body, full IP68 waterproofing (submersible to 16 ft / 5 m) and a rechargeable 3250 mAh battery that runs up to 12 hours. At around 2.7 lbs it is easy to swing all day, and USB firmware updates keep it improving over time.
Key features
- Simultaneous multi-frequency - broad target performance that a single-frequency budget machine cannot match.
- Three search modes tuned for different terrains and targets.
- Fully waterproof IP68 - submersible to 16 ft / 5 m for beach and shallow-water hunting.
- Lightweight at about 2.7 lbs, so long sessions stay comfortable.
- Rechargeable 3250 mAh battery good for up to 12 hours, charged by USB or a power bank.
- Bluetooth wireless audio and free USB firmware updates.
The base Score keeps things deliberately simple - it does not add the manual ground balance and extra sensitivity steps you get a tier up.
Who it is for
The Score is for the beginner who wants a light, waterproof, multi-frequency detector without a steep learning curve or a big price tag. Nokta itself positions it for both newcomers and pros who want a simple backup, and the community routinely recommends the Score series as a top starting point. If you expect to hunt heavily in mineralized ground or want more adjustability, step up within the family.
Versions and how it compares
The family runs base Score to Double Score (adds manual ground balance and extra sensitivity) to Triple Score (the most capable, with added modes). All share the lightweight, waterproof, SMF foundation. For the hands-on verdict on the base model, see our Nokta Score review.
Buying note
Confirm which version and coil a listing includes, and check the current price - the Score line is frequently discounted. Some bundles add accessories like a digger or carry bag.
