Nokta Legend Metal Detector

Known in full as The Legend (and sometimes listed as the Nokta Makro Legend or Legend SMF), this detector marked Nokta's move into simultaneous multi-frequency detection. Multi-frequency means the coil transmits several frequencies at once, which makes the machine adaptable across wet sand, mineralized soil, trashy parks and freshwater, instead of forcing you to pick a single frequency for each site.

It ships in several package configurations - from a bare standard box up to the fuller bundles - but the core detector, software and search modes are the same across them. The Legend Pro Pack is simply the Legend with extra coils and accessories, and the newer Legend 2 builds on this same platform.

• Simultaneous multi-frequency: adaptable to most targets and ground conditions without constantly switching modes.
• Fully waterproof (IP68): submersible to 3 meters (10 ft) and sealed against dust, so it doubles as an underwater detector for shallow water and surf.
• Free firmware updates: Nokta has added features and refined performance over the detector's life, including the well-received V1.17 update that owners describe as quieter and more sensitive.
• Wireless audio: bundles with Bluetooth aptX Low Latency headphones, so there is no lag between target and tone.
• Long battery life: up to 20 hours of use, with a replaceable, user-swappable battery on the fuller packages - charge it from any USB source or power bank.
• Gold-capable: suited to picking up small gold nuggets in highly mineralized gold fields, on top of coin and relic work.

The Legend fits the hobbyist who wants one versatile machine rather than a specialist tool. It suits coin and relic hunters who also want beach and water access, newcomers stepping up from an entry-level detector, and prospectors who occasionally chase small gold. If your hunting is strictly land-only and budget is tight, a simpler model may serve you, but the Legend's flexibility is the point.

Beyond the base detector, the Legend Pro Pack adds the LG30 12" x 9" coil, a spare waterproof battery, wireless headphones, a cap and holster for buyers who want the full kit up front. For a hands-on verdict, see our Nokta Legend review, and for firmware and troubleshooting help, the Legend updates and support guide. Shoppers comparing generations should also look at the Legend 2.

Against Nokta's own lineup, the Legend sits above the waterproof all-rounder Simplex: the Simplex is single-frequency and simpler, while the Legend adds simultaneous multi-frequency and a richer feature set. Within the family it is the original flagship, with the Legend 2 as its successor. You can see where it ranks against the whole range on our best Nokta detector page.

Because the Legend comes in multiple package tiers, check exactly which coils, pinpointer and headphones are included before you buy - the difference between the standard box and a pro bundle is accessories, not the detector itself. Pricing shifts with promotions and bundle contents, so confirm the current listing when you are ready.
